Job description

As an Android Developer, you make sure our mobile app gives our users the best possible way to buy, browse and interact with Coolblue.

Pros and cons

  • + As an Android Developer, you make sure our mobile app gives our users the best possible way to buy, browse and interact with Coolblue.
  • + Work together with team members to write Kotlin code for Android.
  • + You objectively consider technical choices, such as our architecture, tools, and processes, and don't cling too tightly to previously made choices or existing information.
  • + You keep an eye on the performance of the app and analyze how you can improve this.
  • - You need to keep up with the latest news for the pubquiz.

'Morning!' You start a new day, in which you and your team continue work on the new search controller. You pair up with the PHP Developer to make sure the right data is available and then you  focus for a while. Once you're done, it's already lunchtime. Wow, time sure flies!

During lunch, you take a walk around Rotterdam with colleagues from your team, but you make sure to return in time for a backlog refinement meeting. After refinement, you help a colleague who is a bit stuck with his code. When you've finished pairing, a team member calls the team together to do a team check. She finished adding alternative products to the product page. You observe and ask her some questions. Everybody is happy with the result; it looks nice and works smoothly.

You're about to finish your story, you're confident in your tests, but you still need a colleague to double-check your PR, so that'll wait for the morning now. You head out in time to catch your train, but yet again, you're cutting it fine, because Rotterdam Central Station is just across the street.

Your specifications

  • You have a technical BSc or MSc in for example Computer Science.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience as an Android developer.
  • You have a deep understanding and proven experience building mobile apps at scale.
  • You're able to solve problems by using accepted best practices and principles, such as TDD/BDD, SOLID, and design patterns.
  • You think code quality is important.
  • You know how Git works.
  • Working with Scrum/Agile working is second nature to you.
  • You're keen to automate and implement recurring tasks in a CI/CD system.
  • You're proud of your work and welcome all feedback.
  • You're fluent in English.

Included by default

  • Money.
  • Travel allowance and a retirement plan.
  • 25 leave days. As long as you promise to come back.
  • A discount on all our products.
  • Relocation assistance from A to Z (only from European countries).
  • A picture-perfect office at a great location. You could crawl to work from Rotterdam Central Station. Though we recommend just walking for 2 minutes.
  • Extraordinarily good work environment, including freshly made snacks, monthly drinks, legendary Coolblue parties, awesome team activities, and an informal, playful department.
